Yahoo Account Setup

The BTC uses a Yahoo group to manage such things as our email distribution list and online polls and surveys. When new members join the club, their email address is added to the Yahoo group, which allows them to receive BTC email announcements, and also send messages to the rest of the members. In order to take advantage of additional functionality of the Yahoo group, a free Yahoo account must be created. After creating a Yahoo account, members will be able to:
  1. Change their BTC email list options, such as choosing to receive a single "digest message" once per day, containing all of the messages from that day, rather than receiving each email message individually.

  2. Change the email address where they wish to receive BTC messages.

  3. View an archive of all previous BTC email messages and postings.

  4. Participate in online BTC polls and surveys.

Account Setup Instructions

It is very easy (and free) to create a Yahoo account. If you already have an account to access other Yahoo services (such as Yahoo email), then you don't need to set up another Yahoo account.
  1. Click on the link for the BTC Yahoo group (will open another window)

  2. Click on the "Sign Up" link.

  3. Fill out the short form containing your name, gender, desired username, desired password, etc. You will be given the option (in the form of a checkbox) to create a Yahoo email account. Uncheck that box if you do not want a Yahoo email account.

  4. In the "alternate email address" field, be sure to enter the email address that is subscribed to the BTC email list! This needs to be done in order to be able to access the BTC Yahoo group from your newly created account.

  5. Access your email account (the one you specified as your "alternate email"). You should have a message from Yahoo. Follow the brief instructions in order to "activate" your newly created account.

You will now be able to log into Yahoo Groups using your new username and password. Once logged in, you should automatically see the BTC group, assuming your Yahoo account was created with the same email address that is registered with the BTC. If the BTC group doesn't automatically show up, you can follow the "membership wizard" links in order to search for it. If the email address that you used to register with the BTC is not the same as one of the "alternate email addresses" listed in your Yahoo account, you will not be able to access the BTC Yahoo group. (Note: your Yahoo account can contain multiple "alternate email addresses")
