2014 Ontario Scenario
& pot luck family picnic
Sunday June 29th 2014, at Porter on the Lake
The 2014 BTC "Ontario Scenario" will be held on Sunday, June 29th, 2014. This triathlon training session will be held at the Lake Ontario swim site at Deitz Road in Youngstown, NY. After the event (11:30am) we will have a pot luck family picnic at the pavilion that is adjacent to the event site.
The primary purpose of this event is to give our newer members an opportunity to experience a "race like" triathlon environment complete with aspects such as body markings and transition area set-up. This is not intended to be a highly competitive race, but it is suitable for beginners and veterans alike. It's a great opportunity for our veterans to provide advice and mentoring to our less experienced members.
Event start time is 10:00am. The transition area will be open at 8:30am. Family picnic will begin at 11:30am. Hot dogs will be provided using club funds, and we ask that attendees bring their own beverages (alcohol is permitted) and consider bringing a dish or item to share. The picnic is open to all BTC members and their families, regardless of whether or not they participate or volunteer for the Ontario Scenario. Even if you only plan to attend the picnic, please submit the registration form for us so we can plan accordingly.
This event will consist of a 600 meter swim, 13 mile bike and a 2.5 mile run. (distances are approximate) Instructions for the bike and run and course will be provided on the day of the event (see links below for tentative routes). The courses will be very simple to follow, and will be clearly marked.
The Ontario Scenario is free to all BTC members, however the field will be limited to 50 athletes and you must pre-register before June 27th to guarantee your spot. You can register online. If there are spots left, we will register athletes on event morning from 8:30am-9:30am.
Posted results will likely consist of an overall time only (no split times). A variety of male and female awards will be given, for both veterans and newcomers. We also have some items to give away as door prizes.
Like any other BTC workout, the roads will be open to traffic so please ride carefully and cautiously.
We are looking for some more volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Kate Leary and Barbara O'Reilly via email.
